The Drago family comes back for revenge The post Drago Confirmed for Creed II as Stallone Finishes Script appeared first on ComingSoon.net.
It didn’t take long after the release of “Creed” for sequel talk to start stirring. The “Rocky” spinoff directed by Ryan Coogler and starring Michael B. Jordan was a huge crowd-pleaser and box office hit, while still maintaining a connection to the mainline series thanks to Sylvester Stallone taking on a mentor role to the young Adonis Creed. Among the ideas batted around for a followup was a prequel reuniting Rocky Balboa and Carl Weathers‘ Apollo Creed (who died in “Rocky IV“), but that was squashed by producer Irwin Winkler, who confirmed that any sequel would focus on Adonis. Just for a change, Marvel Studios are currently opening their gates to dump trucks of money that are being delivered to them. 15 movies in, and the company haven’t really had a true flop, and this past weekend’s “Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2” looks like it’ll be one of their biggest, taking nearly $150 million in three days domestically to add to the $275 million or so it’s racked up in ten days in the rest of the world. Amidst all the big names in “Guardian Of The Galaxy Vol. 2” — not just the returning quintet of Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel, but also newcomers Kurt Russell and Elizabeth Debicki — there’s one name who’s mostly been absent from the movie’s gargantuan marketing efforts, arguably a bigger star than any of the others. ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ Is A Worthy, Surprisingly Emotional Follow-Up To A Superhero Classic [Review]
How many times have you read that it’s really hard to duplicate the success of the first film in a sequel? Probably more than you can remember. Well, here’s a newsflash: “Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2” pulls that feat off with only a little strain and a belly of genuine emotion. Marvel Studios’ space faring superhero-team-that-isn’t-really-a-superhero-team came together in 2014’s “Guardians of the Galaxy.” James Gunn, along with a screenplay assist from Nicole Sperling, wonderfully demonstrated how a band of characters that were barely known beyond hardcore comic book fans could transform into a band of charismatic and colorful characters that felt strikingly original. WEST HOLLYWOOD – Sitting down with James Gunn it’s clear the writer and director of “Guardians of the Galaxy, vol. 2” is battling to keep his energy up as he endures a day full of interviews and press conferences for his latest blockbuster. He is also no doubt coming off the high of the film’s world premiere that took place less than 24 hours earlier. This weekend sees the final episode of “Feud,” which stars Susan Sarandon and Jessica Lange as Hollywood legends Bette Davis and Joan Crawford respectively, as they scheme and catfight their way through the filming of “Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?” It also sees the second weekend of “The Fate of the Furious,” the eighth ‘Fast and the Furious‘ film which stars Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson, who reportedly fell out on set due to Diesel being a “candy ass” (Johnson’s words). I don’t know what the Hollywood equivalent of subtweeting is, but I’d imagine this is pretty close. Earlier this month, Sylvester Stallone exited “The Expendables” franchise and the brewing fourth film, with creative differences and the actor’s reluctance to make a sequel that wasn’t up to his high standards cited as culprits. But that doesn’t mean he’s saying no to schlock. Stallone will be wrapping up “Escape Plan 2” this week, and is already planning to make a third installment.
