It’s been a rough few years to be a Spike Lee fan. He’s one of our best living filmmakers, but his output in the last decade has been underwhelming in one way or another, whether being a bit dull (“Miracle At St. Anna”), quite good but underseen (“Red Hook Summer,” “Chi-Raq”), quite bad and also underseen (“Da Sweet Blood Of Jesus”), or career-nadir-bad and also totally unseen (the “Oldboy” remake). In what is the least shocking bit of entertainment news of 2017, this Thanksgiving Netflix is releasing a Spike Lee-directed series reboot of his 1986 feature film, “She’s Gotta Have It.” A streaming service picking up a 10-episode series adaptation of a film made by a director most well-known from his work in the ‘80s and ‘90s?
