However, each year, children discover the magic of the dour creature and his woodland friends, and it’s all thanks to the vision of A.A. Milne. Now, his story is being told in “Goodbye Christopher Robin.” Starring Domhnall Gleeson, Will Tilston, Margot Robbie, and Kelly Macdonald, and directed by Simon Curtis (“My Week With Marilyn,” “Woman In Gold“), the will detail Milne’s bond with this son, and how it inspired a character that entire world would fall in love with. For years, Disney‘s “Winnie the Pooh” has been allowing audiences to escape to the Hundred Acres Woods, a place of imagination and friendship with Christopher Robin, Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, and many, many more. What many people may not have realized, though, is that Christopher Robin was himself based on a real person: the young child of author A. A. Milne, who used his son’s imagination as the inspiration for the books about a boy and his magical bear. While Fox Searchlight has their horses for this year’s Oscar race with the embattled “The Birth Of A Nation” and “Jackie,” it’s never too early to start planning for next year, and it’s a safe bet that at least for now, their untitled biopic on “Winnie The Pooh” author A.A.
