We’re just getting started with our look at the best in film and TV of 2017, but before we really got stuck into, we wanted to take a minute to look forward to what’s to come in the next twelve months or so. Lord knows we need things to keep us going i…

The now-notorious “Justice League” reshoots, which wanted to accommodate the success of this summer’s “Wonder Woman” among other things, cost Warner Bros. upwards of $25 million. After director Zack Snyder departed the pro…

Tom Cruise proved to be mortal just like the rest us when a stunt on the set of “Mission: Impossible 6” went wrong, leaving him with a broken ankle. It has caused production on next summer’s blockbuster to be halted for an as yet undetermined amount of time (the trades are varying wildly in their assessments). Indeed, there has been a lot of chatter about the incident, but not much in the way of official details, but director Christopher McQuarrie has shed some light on what went down, but first you might need a refresher of the video that went viral. Tom Cruise doesn’t do anything halfway. The actor is famous doing all his own stunts in his pursuit to give his fans and moviegoing audiences the ultimate bang for their buck. For “Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation,” he famously hung off the side of plane and did a mindboggling swimming sequence that required him to hold his breath for minutes on end. That’s not to mention swinging around a Dubai skyscraper for “Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol,” among his other feats. There is no doubt that in the next installment of the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, Tom Cruise will once again do something both incredibly dangerous and impressive for one of the film’s many action setpieces. However, as writer/director Christopher McQuarrie teased last month, Ethan Hunt’s journey is going to be big on drama too. “…we’re at this kind of emotional crossroads with the franchise saying well how dramatic can you take Mission? Continue reading Michelle Monaghan Returns For ‘Mission: Impossible 6’ at The Playlist.

Across five films, “Mission: Impossible” has unapologetically established itself as the espionage franchise, where you come to see big spectacular stunts all loosely connected by a story you’ll forget about five minutes after you leave the cinema (seriously, can anybody break down the plot of ‘Rogue Nation‘ without looking it up?). Audiences pay to come see Tom Cruise do the, well, impossible, but Christopher McQuarrie wants to try and change things up for the next installment. While prestigious films make their debut at Cannes, in the basement of the Palais, the marketplace is where new projects are being announced and shopped around. It’s hard to keep to keep up with all of them, but here are some of the latest highlights: While it’s not the six-film action pantomimes franchise we were hoping for, you do want to see a movie about the world’s greatest mime, right? Well, Jesse Eisenberg will play the legendary French mime Marcel Marceau in the film, “Resistance,” centering on the artist’s involvement in the resistance in the WWII. Continue reading Jesse Eisenberg, Mackenzie Davis, Carrie Brownstein, Sandra Bullock & More Line Up New Projects at The Playlist.

Nowadays, big stars love being part of massive franchises. If you’re Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, you join a new franchise every couple months. However, if you’re Jeremy Renner, you end up getting dumped from franchises. Showbiz 411 is reporting that poor Jeremy Renner won’t star in the upcoming untitled sixth film in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, after joining the series in “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol” in 2011. Continue reading Jeremy Renner Won’t Return In ‘Mission: Impossible 6’ at The Playlist.

By now, we’re all comfortable with the fact that “Mission: Impossible” is just a bunch of stunts and explosions strung together by a story that doesn’t really matter (seriously, can you remember what the plot of “Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation” was?). Tom Cruise has scaled Burj Khalifa, hung off the door of an airplane, and held his breath underwater for several minutes, all the in the name of bringing you maximum popcorn entertainment.
