Despite “Gone Girl” being one of the biggest hits of his career, it’s been a tough few years for David Fincher. He looked set to capitalize on the success of that movie, and the peak TV boom, with two HBO series: the semi-autobiographical 80s mus…
We just dropped our Fall TV Preview: 25 Must-See Shows, and it goes without saying that David Fincher‘s “Mindhunter” is there. The director is behind one of the best serial killer films of all time with this measured, dread filled “Zodiac,” and the same tone seems to permeate his upcoming Netflix series. And a new teaser shows that careful balance of sober drama and sardonic humor that Fincher is bringing to the table. First Trailer For ‘Shot Caller’ Starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Lake Bell, Jon Bernthal & Emory Cohen
The tale is familiar: a man gets sent to prison and must learn the inner workings and street code of the hard knock life behind bars in order to survive. But in the case of “Shot Caller,” a pretty decent cast is assembled for what looks like an otherwise standard run through this sort of material. E.T. meets Christine? No. Lilo’s Stitch meets The Car? Nope. Flipper meets Maximum Overdrive? 0-for-3. Welcome to the first trailer for Monster Trucks, the long-delayed CG/live-action pic that hits theaters in January — its fourth release date. As he gears up to play MacGyver in the fall and is onscreen as Havok in X-Men: Apocalypse, Lucas Till stars as Tripp, an average guy still living in the town where he was born who cobbles together a truck from scraps. Then there’s…
Holt McCallany has been cast as the lead in Mindhunter, Netflix’s crime drama series executive produced by David Fincher and Charlize Theron, sources said. This marks a second series starring role for McCallany, following his well received performance on FX’s boxing drama Lights Out, and a reunion with Fincher, his director in Alien3 and Fight Club. Written by playwright Joe Penhall and Scott Buck, Mindhunter is based on the 1996 book Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite S…
