What if I were to tell you that the creator of Wonder Woman was a psychologist, the inventor of the lie detector, was in an open relationship with two women, and was a BDSM enthusiast. Now, what I told you that the biopic about the man who transformed the comic book industry contained none of the adventurousness, intrigue, or daring of his lifestyle? That deflating sense of disappointment is one you’ll become familiar with watching “Professor Marston And The Wonder Women,” which takes an uninspiring, conventional approach to a fascinating, unconventional story. Thus far, Annapurna has been playing it pretty cagey when it comes to “Professor Marston & The Wonder Women.” Certainly, the title does a lot of the heavy lifting, particularly when a certain DC Films effort is dominating the box office. But now, the curtain is being lifted just a little bit more. Written and directed by Angela Robinson (“The L Word,” “True Blood“) and starring Luke Evans, Bella Heathcote, and Rebecca Hall, the biopic will detail the unconventional life of the titular Harvard psychologist who invented the lie detector, engaged in a polyamorous relationship, and created the iconic Wonder Woman character — which he based on the relationships with the women in his life.  Continue reading New Trailer For ‘Professor Marston & The Wonder Women’ Reveals A New Superhero at The Playlist.

A cinematic soap opera series as sexy and stimulating as laundry detergent, and featuring far less friction, this painfully soporific sensual sequel somehow becomes even less enticing and rousing than Sam Taylor-Johnson’s tediously compromised original. Actively dull and astoundingly flaccid, the monotonously dreary, everlastingly humdrum BDSM fan fiction franchise can never quite decide if it’d rather be smutty or classy. To the surprise of no one, “Fifty Shades Darker” recently earned an R-rating for “strong erotic sexual content, some graphic nudity, and language.” Well, obviously.
